Close To My Heart, Distress Oxide Ink, Ranger, Sunsational Stamps

Welcome, today I wanted to make a card for my Sister-in-Law who is struggling with health issues.  I wanted it to be bright and cheery and spring-like…since Mother Nature is not cooperating in our neck of the woods, I had to make it happen with art.  🙂

I used my big floral stamp set from Sunsational Stamps, you can find their shop Here.  I stamped it several times in VersaMark clear ink onto Ranger Watercolor Paper and heat set it with fine white embossing powder.  I then used a rainbow assortment of my Distress Oxide Inks and added them here and there.  While it was still wet I splattered a couple of the colors on by flicking a paintbrush.  I wanted it to spread a bit and look all dreamy.

I stamped Big Hug from a retired Close To My Heart set and heat set it with fine white embossing powder as well.  I cut it into a tag shape, punched a small hole in the side and added twine I colored with alcohol markers to match the coral color of one of the inks and the card base.

I layered the panel onto black cardstock, added it to the card base, popped up the sentiment with foam squares, added iridescent sequins and called it done.

Be sure and check out this month’s challenge, you can find the post and link up by clicking Here. Good luck, we can’t wait to see what you all create!

All That Glitters

Salutations!  All that glitters is NOT just gold, it is silver, and snow and glass too!

I had to make some tags for our annual Christmas Ornament Exchange party and could not resist Sunny Studio Stamps Holiday Style to fill the bill.

I started out by stamping the pine branch in VersaMark ink and sprinkling Ranger Silver Tinsel Embossing Powder on it and heat setting it.  This was the first time I used it and just LOVE the look.  Helpful Tip… Begin the heat setting/melting process from underneath the image, then finish up on top, the reason is, it gives the glitter pieces a chance to adhere and not get blown right off the paper.  Same concept as when you use the thick embossing powders.

I hope you can see the sparkle of the “tinsel” it is really beautiful in real life.  🙂

Next I stamped the ornament, beginning with Close To My Heart Glacier ink for the base layer circle and stamping CTMH Lagoon, which has been stamped off once, as the shadow piece.  It was way too dark to do without stamping it off first.  I added a piece of silver jewelers thread to “hang” it from the branch.  I popped up the ornament with a foam square, stamped “FROM” in Lagoon ink on the bottom, snipped off the top corners, added some matching blue baker’s twine and called it done.

I thought this would be a great project to submit for a Non-Traditional Holiday Colors challenge #273 going on at Color My Heart – Color Dare Challenge Blog, you can see all the great inspiration Here or even submit some inspiration of your own!

Sweet greetings to y’all, today I made an anniversary card for my hubby.  I used the adorable Woodsy Critters digi set from Sunsational Stamps that you can get Here. This set is packed with many adorable images…critters and their accessories.  🙂

I chose the bear…as you can tell from previous posts, I am partial to bears.  I colored him with Copic markers.  I also colored and die cut some adorable bees and hearts from one of my favorite Honey Bee Stamp sets Busy Bees and the sentiment was from the Bee-You-tiful Sentiments set, which I embossed with an older Ranger embossing powder in Lettuce Green.  The hive was made using two kinds of hearts from the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  The tree branch was actually the tree from my Elizabeth Craft Designs die All Seasons Tree.  I am famous for using die cuts in a non traditional way…I like to get the most bang for my buck!

I added Wink of Stella shimmer to the bees wings and the hearts.  I used Ebony Nuvo Drops for his eyes.  I LOVE the look on his adorable little face.

I used a Lawn Fawn landscape die on some Bazzill cardstock in green (sorry, I forgot to take note of the color name) added that to sky blue cardstock.  Mounted that onto a piece of Kraft cardstock and put the whole kit-n-kaboodle onto the card base.  I forgot to mention that I had popped up the “beehive” and I did not adhere the leaves down, just the stem so the leaves have a little dimension.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  Please follow the blog by clicking on the “Follow Me” button, Like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram so you don’t miss a thing!

Seasons greetings! Sunsational Stamps is featuring Christmas in July so my thoughts have shifted to getting some of my Christmas cards started.  I have to make what seems like millions of them and most have to be mail-friendly, so this design has dimension and detail but it is almost completely flat.

Santa’s List Card

I used Sunsational stamps Santa’s List and colored this adorable elf with my Copic markers.  I used the colorless blender to give his pants a plaid-like pattern.  (I hope you can see it)
The bells on his shoes were colored using Scrapbook.com‘s gold metallic marker. I fussy cut it out to pop it up (just a little) with foam adhesive, onto my background.

Background

Which brings us to how that was created.  I used a piece of 140# watercolor paper and stamped Raisin Boat’s Lollipop background with clear VersaMark ink, sprinkled it with Ranger white embossing powder and heat set it.  I smooshed some Distress inks in Candy Apple Red and Picked Raspberry onto my craft mat and then dropped some water on them to get my watercolor ready. Next I generously swiped water on my embossed piece and then started dropping color into the little ‘lollipops’ in a random order. Finally I spritzed the watercolor panel with perfect pearls that I have premixed in a mini mister. Stamped the inside with ‘You’re on the SWEET list!’ and called it done.  I went with a mix of traditional green along with non traditional light green, light red and bright pink for my color scheme.  I kind of lean toward the brighter colors for my cards, but I do mix it up since I make so many.

Greetings everyone, today’s card is a wedding card.  I used hearts to depict the bride and the groom.  I got the idea from some pins on Pinterest, and ran with it!

Wedding Card

Wedding Card

I used my Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut out 3 hearts; two with the white embossed paper and one of the Charcoal Gray cardstock.  I embossed mint green cardstock for the background and mounted that on more of the white embossed paper and put that all on the Charcoal Gray base.  I cut the center section out of one of the white hearts to make the “shirt” for the groom and added a bow tie from my Close To My Heart Puffy Stickers.  Then I added tiny pearls to the dress and black pearls to the dress shirt.  I also used a Fiskars eyelet border punch to make two strips for to transition the green paper to the white.

The inside was layered and stamped with an old Stampin’ Up! wedding stamp set that was gifted to me by a scrappy friend…Thanks Kim!  I embossed it with Ranger silver embossing powder and called it done.

Ranger, Stampendous, Studio Calico, Tim Holtz, Versamark, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, ZIG Pearlescent Jewel Box Paints

Long time no see!  I am happy to be scrapping again today, I have been on hiatus due to work getting in the way.  Sigh….  But today I was able to make a few projects that you can check out over the next few weeks.

Happy Easter Card

I used ZIG Clean Color Watercolor Markers as well as ZIG Pearlescent Watercolor – Jewel Box, Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper and a Stampendous stamp that I have literally had since I started stamping well over 20 years ago.  I just LOVE this stamp, the bunny is so adorable.

The first thing I did was stamp the Easter stamp with Versamark and then I used Ranger Silver embossing powder.  I like using this method when I want to contain my watercolor for a CAS card.  I used a combination of markers and the Pearlescent paints, then mounted the watercolor paper on a black mat then onto some Studio Calico patterned paper that I had in my stash.  I actually made several of these, giving a different color background patterned paper for each one.

I hope you liked our project today and would love it if you would click on the ‘Follow Me’ button and Like us on Facebook so you don’t miss a thing.

Happy weekend all!  I saw on Facebook that today is National Card Making Day, so… I made a card!  I wanted to use embossing resist with my Zig Clean Watercolor Markers.

I started with 140 LB cold press watercolor paper and stamped it using one of the lovely images from CTMH September Stamp of the Month Paper Garden.  I stamped it with clear Versamark then coated it with Ranger embossing powder in Lettuce and heated with my heat gun.  Next I randomly brushed orange and yellow Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, then using a medium side flat paint brush I added water and swept the brush from left to right on a slight angle.  Then I wrapped some bakers twine around the watercolor paper fastening it on the back of the canvas, and added three pearls.

For the base piece I used CTMH B&T Duos in New England Ivy, ran it through my eBosser with a honeycomb embossing folder and adhered all it to a light yellow card base.

I hope you liked today’s card.  Happy Card Making Day!  Please follow our blog by clicking on the left hand side.  Like us on Facebook too so you don’t miss a thing.
