Howl are you doing?  Hehe…  Well, Halloween is only a couple of days away, so I am wrapping up October with two more cards.  The first one was inspired by Amy Rysavy of Prairie Paper & Ink fame.  She wrapped a piece of cardstock with Microspore tape for her puppy mummy card, so I could not resist to adapt my version.

I used Newton’s Nook Boo Crew stamp set.  I colored Winston with alcohol markers, fussy cut him out and mounted him on my microspore tape wrapped cardstock, this in turn was matted on Doodlebug Beetle Black cardstock.  The base is made with Doodlebug October 31st patterned paper line (the line is so stinkin’ cute!)

Mummy Bear Card

The inside sentiment was stamped with a Sunsational Stamps Happy Halloween set.  The card base was made with Doodlebug Grass Green cardstock.  I believe the ribbon was from K&Co…but I have had it for so long, I can’t be sure.

The second card was made using Stampin’ Up’s Frightening Feline stamp.  I stamped it with Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink onto black cardstock and clear heat embossed it.  I was going for a bit of a fluorescent look.

Scaredy Cat Card

I created a shaker and framed the shaker window with Doodlebug patterned paper from the October 31st line.  I used many embellishments from K&Co.  The bottom of the card was created with a piece of gray cardstock that I embossed with a brick Sizzix folder and I distressed it randomly with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I hope today’s cards inspired you to scare up some of your scrappy stash and make something bootiful.  Ok, I am done…I could not resist.  Please follow our blog by clicking on the “Follow Me” button and Like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram so you don’t miss a thing!

Alcohol Marker, Bazzill, Distress Inks, EK Success, Grassy Border, K&Co., Lawn Cuts Dies, Lawn Fawn, Sunsational Stamps, Tumbled Glass

Howdy Partner!  Today I am so excited to share my scrapbook layout I created with the Boot Scootin’ Belle image along with the Corn Stalk and Hay Bale images from Sunsational Stamps.  I fashioned Belle after my good friend since I was just a young in’. So my nickname for this image is Rootin’ Tootin’ Rita!  😉

Boot Scootin' Belle Layout

Boot Scootin’ Belle Layout

I colored the images with a mixture of both alcohol markers and Distress markers.  The background sky is sponged on Tumbled Glass Distress ink.  I colored some natural twine with my Copic E33 and wrapped it around each hay bale.  I cut the hay that is under her feet with the Lawn Fawn Lawn Cuts Grassy Border die.  The patterned background foundation paper is from my stash and I have to say it is very old.  It is Harvest Time by Susan Winget for Paper Adventures…I think she now designs for EK Success, but don’t quote me on that.  The photo mats are Bazzill card stock and the chipboard letters are also an oldie from my stash…

Happy Harvest to you! I don’t need to remind anyone that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but there is still plenty of time to put together some cards for those special people in your life that you are grateful for.

I have been busy making many different designs because I have a very sweet collection of autumn stamps and stamp sets that include saying of gratitude.

The tree card was stamped with Close To My Heart – Always Grateful, as well as the inside of that card.  The sign on the wood grain embossed card was also stamped with a sentiment in this set.

I colored the tree and grass with a small sponge dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I used Scattered Straw, Wild Honey & Peeled Paint.  I mounted the picture onto golden-yellow card stock.  I wrapped a K&Co. gold ribbon around a piece of patterned paper cut 1/8 inch smaller than the card base and assembled as shown above.  I stamped the inside with Cocoa Brown Memento ink using a sentiment from the stamp set.

Wood grain Embossed Card

This card was made using the Teresa Collins eBosser and Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder.  I cut out leaves from various patterned paper using the Close To My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  This same leaf and acorn are in the CTMH stamp set Fall Harvest and I stamped the acorn and then colored it with my ShinHan alcohol markers.  I used that stamp set with the leaf and acorn cut outs for the next card seen below.

Using my Cricut I cut out the leaves at 2 inches and stamped them with CTMH pigment inks (Topiary, Sunset & Cranberry).  I just love how vibrant the colors are.  I stamped the wreath and “Life is Good” with the CTMH Remarkable Wreath (retired) stamp set.  The wreath was stamped in 3 layers.  First I used Sunset pigment ink with the leaf half circle and of course stamped it twice to make a circle.  Then I used the Cocoa Brown Memento ink to stamp the wreath over the leaves.  Last, I stamped the berries in Cranberry pigment ink as the top layer.  The inside was stamped with the Curlicues Alpha set that came with the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut bundle.

I hope you enjoyed todays cards and techniques.  Thank you for stopping by and remember to click on the left panel to follow our blog so you don’t miss a thing.  Like us on Facebook and stop by our online shop for more inspiration!

Distress Stains, Doodlebug Designs, K&Co., mister Huey's

Now that Summer is in full swing I thought it would be appropriate to pull out some pool pics.  I found one of my favorites with my daughter and niece, two of the most beautiful girls in the world.  With that being said, the title was obvious….WATER BABES I began with sketch #118 from Sketchabilities website, then I picked out my papers which included two patterns, yellow vellum, a plain light blue base sheet and an 8-1/2×11 sheet of white.  I took out my Mister Huey’s Bubbles mask, Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and Mister Huey’s Color Mist in Splash.  I held the mask down with a couple of tiny pieces of Washi tape so it didn’t move around on me and I sponged the Distress Ink randomly in a diagonal pattern.  Once I lifted up the mask I spritzed the paper with the Color Mist.  I set that aside while I trimmed up my papers and rounded the corners.  The paper with the pool gear pattern was cut to give me 2 – 6×6 squares, the other pattern piece was cut in a 4×4 as well as the vellum and the photo.  The photo mat was cut with a contrasting background 1/4 inch larger all around.  I found a tag from K&Co that had a blue and aqua watery looking background with lobsters and it was the orange-red of the lobster that I matched both the photo mat and the Thickers “BABES” to. The letters that make up the word WATER are called Curly White by Glitz & Glitter.  I made a small banner for the bottom left corner for their names.  I added a tab to the photo mat with the year and I punched various sizes of circles to keep with the “bubble” motif.  I added some wood veneers, one of which I rubbed with the Distress Ink and stamped a swirl in the center.  Finally adding a brad with a “Hello Sunshine” flag and rubbed the remaining veneers with Doodlebug inks to pull out more of the orange and yellow in the layout. Below are a few pictures of the steps and the final layout.  Oh, I almost forgot….I am super picky about my letters in titles, so I included a picture of how I use a magnetic ruler and wax paper to line them up prior to placing them on the page.  A little trick I learned along the way. Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week!
