Greetings fellow paper crafters!  Today I wanted to get a head start on my Mother’s Day cards, so I started by making a card for my mom, from her grandchild.  I am in love with the You Take The Cake digi set from Sunsational Stamps.  You can find the set Here.

I started by printing the teapot and the teacup on patterned paper by Authentique, they have such pretty papers.  I also printed a series of the flower blossom on the papers as well.  I used my one inch Fiskars circle punch to pop out the flowers and fussy cut the teapot and cup.  I alternated the two patterns of the flowers along the left side, for a border.

I cut out the cute double frame using the Fitted Frames 3 Curvy Rectangles by Elizabeth Craft Design.  I popped up the cup and pot overlapping the frame, added a heart from a  Raisin Boat set.  I made the ‘Nana’ banner with some alpha stickers in my stash, mounted the whole kit-n-kaboodle on a salmon pink cardstock base and called it done!

Greetings everyone, today’s card is a wedding card.  I used hearts to depict the bride and the groom.  I got the idea from some pins on Pinterest, and ran with it!

I used my Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut out 3 hearts; two with the white embossed paper and one of the Charcoal Gray cardstock.  I embossed mint green cardstock for the background and mounted that on more of the white embossed paper and put that all on the Charcoal Gray base.  I cut the center section out of one of the white hearts to make the “shirt” for the groom and added a bow tie from my Close To My Heart Puffy Stickers.  Then I added tiny pearls to the dress and black pearls to the dress shirt.  I also used a Fiskars eyelet border punch to make two strips for to transition the green paper to the white.

The inside was layered and stamped with an old Stampin’ Up! wedding stamp set that was gifted to me by a scrappy friend…Thanks Kim!  I embossed it with Ranger silver embossing powder and called it done.

Alcohol Marker, Doodlebug Designs, EK Success, Fiskars, Sassafras Patterned Paper, Sunsational Stamps

Hi there and happy Tuesday to you!  Today I created a layout for my daughter’s first day of kindergarten, which was a loooong time ago.  When I saw these digital images from Sunsational Stamps, I knew I HAD to re-scrap my pictures.

I used two images; Bookworm and Apple with Worm…these two guys are simply adorable.  I had a blast coloring them with alcohol markers.  I used glossy accents on the bookworm’s eyes to give the glasses the appearance of lenses.  I hope you enjoy todays page layout!

Salutations one and all, today I will show you a mixed media technique that I used to make a vintage bookmark that was added to a birthday card for a gal that loves the colors gold and green, has a passion for books (not Kindles or Nooks) and all things vintage, so I came up with this.

Back of Bookmark…I thought this saying was appropriate for reading a good book.

Back of Bookmark…I thought this saying was appropriate for reading a good book.

  • I created the tag using thin chipboard as my canvas.
  • I then placed a Tim Holtz ‘burlap’ stencil over it.  I taped it down with some microspore tape (it is more easily removed than Washi or painters tape).
  • Next I applied Distress ink in Peeled Paint.  I did this on both sides of the bookmark.
  • Once the stencil was removed I then distressed both sides with Tea Dye Distress ink.
  • In the next step I grabbed a paper cocktail napkin that has a vintage motif printed on it and tore around the edges to a size that fit on the front of the bookmark.
  • I glued it down using Matte Modge Podge.  Once dried, I added a top coat on the napkin, making sure to ‘seal’ the edges down and let dry completely.
  • I added a chipboard bird to the top front corner of the bookmark.
  • On the backside, I stamped the days of the week in a border using Fiskars – Teresa Collins Calendar stamp set.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • I then added word stickers from Authentique ( I am not sure what collection these were from, I have had them for a while).  I used the words WHAT.A.LOVELY.WAY.TO.SPEND.A.DAY.  I thought that sentiment was perfect for reading a good book.  I distressed the edges of the word stickers with the Tea Dye ink and put them in place.
  • I used Walnut Stain Distress ink to distress the edges of the entire bookmark.
  • I then painted on a final coat of Matte Modge Podge to both sides of the bookmark (making that two coats total for the front).  I set it aside to completely dry.
  • I added a Graphic 45 key from their Staples.  I attached it to a bit of white ribbon using Close To My Heart Extra Thick Twine in Flax.  I just love the look of this twine.  It is more like miniature rope.

The remainder of the card was made using CTMH New England Ivy textured cardstock.  I cut it 9×7.  I scored the long end at 1″ and 5″.  I added a light green vellum pocket in the interior center, to hold the bookmark.  I then added another vellum panel on the right side of the interior of the card and stamped a sentiment from the CTMH Your Own Kind of Wonderful stamp set.  I used CTMH Topiary dye ink.

The belly band was made using American Crafts gold Washi tape wrapping a strip of cardstock.  I stamped the typewriter and Happy Birthday XOXOXO which came from April’s Stamp of the Month Typed Note from CTMH.  I used clear Distress Embossing ink and gold embossing powder.  Finally, I fussy cut that out and added to belly band with 3D foam squares.

Hello All, today I was feeling like I wanted to create something different.  I have been working on Thanksgiving and Christmas for the past few weeks and just began to hear a  different drum beating….But I still had the theme of “What I am Thankful for” in my head.  Since I am most thankful for my family, that is when I decided to scrap a layout of my daughter’s birthday.  I was excited to use a new Doodlebug kit I received in the mail from my Archivers Annex order.  I used the Take Note collection to scrap this layout and I just LOVE the vibrant colors and how cheerful the paper is.

My daughter’s birthday is in the summer, so these colors work perfectly.  As soon as I saw the Push Pin Doodle Pops I knew I was going to use them along with some Doodle Twine to “hold up” a banner.  If you know me, you know that I L.O.V.E. banners!  I also find the grid paper, with the lovely colors, to be a great way to line up a layout, especially this one!  I decided to do the layout using the idea of a “shelf” to build on.  I also was excited to use my Fiskars Notebook Paper punch.

Happy scrapping (and march to any drum that inspires you!)
