Hello, I decided to get inky today and play with my new Distress Oxide inks.  I needed a masculine thank you card for someone who is an artist…talk about pressure!  I was nervous, but in the end I am happy with the results.

Creativity Takes Courage Card

I rubbed various colors of Distress Oxide ink; Vintage Photo, Fossilized Amber, Fired Brick & Cracked Pistachio onto my craft mat and spritzed with a little water.  I mixed the Fossilized Amber and Fired Brick together to add an orange to my brown and yellow palette.  I took a piece of watercolor paper and dipped it in the various colors, drying with my heat gun in between each layer.  I added a small amount of Cracked Pistachio as the last layer  to give a patina look.  On the sentiment, which is the Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers, I sponged on Vintage Photo and Cracked Pistachio before adding them to the card.

Next up I dug out my newsprint background stamp by Justrite Stamp Co and a couple of small Tim Holtz stamps.  I used Walnut Stain, Black Soot and Tea Dye for my random background print.

I added jewelry cording around the card and attached it in three places with my stapler. I added a vintage button from a Cosmo Cricket embellie set.  The button was shiny, so I sanded it down and sponged on some Tea Dye Distress ink before adding it to the card.  Because of its weight and bulkiness I actually stitched it to the watercolor panel to give it added stability.  I used foam tape to mount all this onto a black mat and a brown card base.

Friends Feast Together Wreath

Greeting fellow paper crafters.  I needed a Thanksgiving wreath for my front door, I have never had one and I have had 30 Thanksgivings as a married lady….I guess you could say this was loooonnng overdue!

I printed the Pilgrim and Indian images, from Sunsational Stamps Friends That Feast Together set, at 3 inches.  I used a wooden embroidery hoop as the “wreath” and stained it with Distress Fired Brick stain.  I love using distress stains on wooden items, the stain takes real well on any item I applied it to.

I then “stretched” the burlap and ribbon into the hoop and decided to use the indented side as the front, that way I could place all my elements inside it.  In the upper portion I put the little Pilgrim pie lady with the message that I mounted on a Tea Dye Distressed base.  I made a loopy bow with wire ribbon and attached that at the bottom right corner.  Then I hot glued some silk autumn leaves to the frame and burlap in the bottom right.  I nestled the little images amongst the leaves and called it done.  It was a real quick project and I now have something festive for my door to greet my Thanksgiving guests.
