Greetings, it has been a while!  Today I made a birthday card using Elizabeth Crafts Peel & Stick sticker, glitter paper and Copic markers.  I absolutely love the effect you get when you color the micro fine glitter paper with the Copics!

Over on Morgan’s Artworld blog, they are having their fortnight challenge, this challenge #14 is Animals…you can submit anything as long as it has an animal on it.  When I took a sneak peek at some of the entries so far, some of them had bugs too, so I thought “Why not join the challenge?!”

Oh the weather outside is ….. well, where I live it is actually pretty nice out, but that is NOT always the case.  HA!

Today I made a layout for a picture of my daughter catching snowflakes.  The photo was taken her freshman year at college, and where she went, they didn’t see much in the way of snow, most often it was ice.

In the photo of her, she is wearing a pretty pink hat and I colored the Mary Christmas image and another Catching Snowflakes (see last week) both of them from Sunsational Stamp Shop.  I die cut snowflakes from a Darice Snowflake Die.  I colored in the image with both Copic and ShinHan alcohol markers.  My Let It Snow stamp is an older hostess set from CTMH.  The images and the photo mat are cut from Bazzill Nautical Dark Blue cardstock and mounted onto Recollections Say Freeze paper line.  There was plenty of sequins snowflakes and Wink of Stella added here and there to give a shimmery, frosty feel.

Howdy-do to you!  Today I had to take a break from Christmas and holiday card making so I could create a birthday card for one of my dear friends.  I wanted to create a card using My Besties digi stamps by Sherri Baldy.  She has some adorable ones that are perfect for birthday cards.  I picked this one and colored her to match my friend’s looks and personality.  I hope you enjoy!

I used Glossy Accents to add condensation to the glass and to accentuate her pretty painted toe nails.  I used Copic and ShinHan alcohol markers to color in the image and then mottled a bit where her clothing was behind glass.  I added accent dots to add interest to many of the various elements of the design using a white gel pen.  The background was sponged with my fave background Distress Ink…Tumbled Glass.  The stamped panel is mounted on red Bazzill Cardstock and then that is mounted on a Bazzill yellow card base.

I created this Layout Believe In Me.

Believe In Me Layout

I just love the spirit of Christmas and believing in Santa symbolically is so important.  I think the world can always use a little bit of holiday magic, so I tried to convey that in my layout.  I am planning on framing this in a shadowbox for display on the mantel.

To create my layout I colored all the images with my Copic and ShinHan alcohol markers then I fussy cut them out.  I cut snowdrifts and used Glossy Accents and WOW glitter to accentuate the drifts.  Next I popped them up with foam tape to give the scene dimension.  I spattered Picket Fence distress paint on the night blue background to simulate snow.  I constructed a North Pole sign with some Little B washi tape and some alpha stickers from my stash.  Finally I added some glittery snowflakes and voila, it is a very busy Santa & Company finishing up with the last-minute details.

Jingle Bells and Ho, Ho, Ho to you!  One of my favorite “silly” Christmas songs is I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, my all time favorite rendition is by John Mellencamp.

According to the song, a child is peeking in on Mommy and believing that she was really kissing St. Nick.  So I made my card with a curtain pulled back to reveal the kiss.  🙂

The background of brick was achieved by running my cardstock through my eBosser using my Tim Holtz Alterations brick embossing folder, and then I distressed it lightly with CTMH Slate ink, just to make the bricks pop a little.  I layered that on top of red and green dotted patterned paper and that was added on top of green Bazzill cardstock for the base.  I added a black rectangle with the top corners rounded to form the opening to the fireplace.  I colored the images with Copic and ShinHan alcohol markers and popped the image up with foam tape.  I added Glossy Accents to the berries in the mistletoe and “hung” it with some silver thread.  The final step was to pull back the curtains with brads and attach the curtains with Scor Tape.

Head on over the http://www.sunsationalstamps.com to get this (and hundreds more) great stamp sets.  We would love it if you would click the “Follow Me” button to follow the blog and Like us on Facebook so you don’t miss a thing.

Hello Friend(s), today is the beginning of meteorological autumn, so to celebrate the harvests and the colors I thought I would make a card for a friend…a “just because” card.  I used the Sunsational Stamps Going Nuts set and picked out just the squirrel with the pumpkin & sunflower image.

I used Bazzill Basics Kraft Collection as the base and topped it off with CTMH Shimmer Tape in Bronze and Black.  I added the Hello Friend banner from the Jillibean Soup, Soup Labels.  I colored the image with a combination of ShinHan, Copic and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  I cut a mask for the image and sponged Tumbled Glass Distress ink for the sky and Peeled Paint Distress ink for the grass.
