Hello Sunshine!  I recently received Happy Mail from Strawberry Jude Stamps and could not wait to put these great stamp sets to good use.

Happy Mail from Strawberry Jude Stamps

I was super excited to use the Hello Sunflower on Kraft cardstock.  You can find the stamps and inspiration by following this link to Strawberry Jude Stamps  I love the look of colored pencil on darker cardstock and the trick is to color the entire image in white pencil then add the color on top of that.

I matted this finished image onto Chocolate Brown cardstock and added that to a strip of  Modascrap patterned paper from Elizabeth Craft Designs. A dark brown yarn/jute was added and I frayed the ends.  All this was added to a pumpkin colored base.

I thought this would be the perfect entry to the Cupcake Inspiration Blog Challenge, this week the color challenge is Brown, Orange and Green.  You can find all the inspiration for this challenge Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #429.

Howdy-Hoot!  Well today’s project began as one idea and ended slightly different.  You would never know if I didn’t tell you…but I am going to let you in on a little secret…I made an oopsie.  There is a mantra that most paper crafters live by and that is “There are NO mistakes in paper crafting, just opportunities to embellish” or in this case alter the image.  😉

Warm Winter Wishes Card

Warm Winter Wishes Card

This is the end result, and I am happy with it, however, it was supposed to have two adorable owls on it.  But low and behold if I didn’t stamp the sentiment too high.  UGH!  I have ten thousand more things to make between now and yesterday so the idea of making another background was stressing me out, sooo….I cut one of the owls off and there you have it, one owl wishing you warm winter wishes instead of two.

I colored the image with colored pencils and blended it with Gamsol.  The image Owl Always Need You is from the Sunsational Stamps Shop.  Aren’t they adorable?!

The background was made by sponging layer upon layer of Distress inks.  I layered Tumbled Glass all over the cardstock then I added Peacock Feathers to part of it.  I flicked some water on top and dabbed dry with a paper towel, to create the snowy bokeh look.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment which is from Close To My Heart’s Frosted set.  And as you see from the picture, the sentiment was a bit too high to accommodate both the owls…sigh…

Blending Stump, Close To My Heart, Colored Pencils, CTMH, Gamsol Mineral Spirits, Scrapbook Expo, Sunsational Stamps

Hello friends, followers and fans!  With everyone in the ‘Back to School’ mode, I thought it would be fun to put a little twist on our Tuesday.  Humans are NOT the only ones that go to school…pups go to obedience class, and one pup in particular that I am referring to is my daughter’s Yorkie, Jack.  I thought a little card to commemorate the occasion was in order.

Card using "In The Doghouse" digital image.

Card using “In the Doghouse” digital image.

I used the ‘In the Doghouse’ image (I omitted the sentiment at the bottom) and colored it with Close To My Heart colored pencils.  I also used Gamsol mineral spirits and a blending stump to smooth out the pencil lines.  This was the first time I used this technique and I really loved it.  I learned it this past weekend when I attended the Scrapbook Expo in Schaumburg, Illinois.  I added the word “Skool” to the “Schoolhouse” and drew in the K and L backwards…just a little whimsy.  😉

First I printed my digital image on the right hand side of the card stock then I cut the top of the card to follow the roof line and folded it over along the side of the house.  The house card’s finished size is a standard A2 size.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  Stop by the digi store at Sunsational Stamps and Scrapping with Lisa at http://scrappingwithlisadesigns.com and please check out http://sunsationalstamps.blogspot.com

Happy crafting!
