2 Crafty Critter Crazies, @newtonsnook, Alcohol Marker, Broken China, Distress Inks, Distress Oxide Ink, eBosser, Newton's Nook, Peacock Feathers

Chirp, chirp…Spring is right around the corner, at least I am hoping.  😉  Today I wanted to make a Birthday card for a dear friend and we are all at that age where we don’t like to acknowledge a number, if you get my drift…so I thought this adorable stamp set by Newton’s Nook, Newton’s Birthday Flutter was just the thing to create that card.

A Little Birdie Told Me Card

I started by using the smooshing technique for the front background.  I took some Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers and Broken China inks and rubbed a bit onto a piece of acetate then I spritzed it with water.  I then “Smooshed” it onto a piece of watercolor paper.  I did each color separately and dried it between layers.

Next I colored the birdie and balloons with alcohol markers and fussy cut them out so I could add them to the background.  I hand drew in the strings.  I stamped the sentiment in Ranger Archival Black Ink.

Now for the inside… I colored Newton and added some stripes with my alcohol markers, stamped the super funny punchline and sponged on some Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint…those are my two Go-To colors for grass and sky.  I then ran the front portion only through my eBosser with a confetti embossing folder to add a little interest to the white card base.  I mounted both the watercolor panel and the inside panel onto a mat and added them in place.

I entered my little Newton card in the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge #10.  Please follow this Link to enter your own creation or to take a peek at all the inspiration!

Hi, I hope everyone is having a Grrreat day!  My project today features the Wild About Pumpkin Spice Latte digi set from Sunsational Stamps that you can access Here.

Wild About Pumpkin Spice Latte card

I colored this adorable tiger and his pumpkin spice latte with Copic markers.  The background was made by sponging on my two go-to Distress Oxide colors, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio.  I then spritzed it with some Perfect Pearls mist.  (Side note:  I accidentally spritzed EVERYTHING on my work surface EXCEPT the background when my nozzle got turned around, sigh…)  Anyway, back  to the project… I added some Doodlebug Fall Leaves Washi tape to the bottom to ground my little tiger and mounted this onto a black mat, that then was mounted onto a piece of Doodlebug Kraft/color cardstock and then the whole shebang was mounted onto the flip side of the Doodlebug kraft/color cardstock and added to the card base.  Finally I popped my critter onto the shimmery background, added the sentiment and voila!

Alcohol Marker, Broken China, Distress Oxide Ink, Fossilized Amber, Sunsational Stamps

Hi there fellow crafters, I was looking at the plants today and noticed how the colors are starting to change.  Not quite the reds, oranges and vibrant yellows of fall, but the typical flowers and foliage of late summer, Black Eyed Susan, Strawflowers, Sunflowers and whatever those gorgeous purple leafy things are…I am clearly not a botanist.  So today I thought we could take a peek at the beginning of our early autumn palate with a gold embossed vellum card.

Life is Good Autumn Card

I did something completely different today, I printed out the digi images I wanted in my scene and I traced them onto the vellum with pencil.  Next I retraced the images with my embossing pen, sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and heat set it.  I almost left it plain, I loved the look so much, but decided to color the images in as planned with alcohol markers.  You have to color the back side of the vellum for it to look good.  The images I used were Squirrel with Fence and Squirrel with Pumpkins & Sunflower, you can find them Here.

I mottled the petals to give them interest and I colored the entire center with 4 or 5 different colors, but instead of flicking or coloring I used dots to replicate the center of a sunflower.  I added lines to the acorns and just colored the remaining images as usual.

I sponged Broken China and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks onto the card base and  then stamped it with “Life is Good” stamp from one of my Close To My Heart sets.  I added Matte Multi Media glue to the image outlines (so it would not show through the vellum) and adhered it to the inked card base.  I added three little Queen & Co Ice bling to highlight the sentiment and called it a day.

Please head on over to Sunsational Stamps September Challenge, the theme is Fall.  You can get there from Here
