Happy Birthday Paper Canvas Creations Blog!

PCC blog is celebrating its first year in cyberspace this month.  In it’s honor I have been busy making all sorts of cards for A LOT of birthdays this summer.

First up is a birthday card for a gal who’s favorite pastime is shopping! I used the Artfully Sent cartridge to cut out the purse panel card and backed each row with a different patterned paper, repeating the bottom and top rows.  I personalized the card by adding the recipient’s name to the last purse.  I used Doodlebug rub-on letters.

I used the CTMH It’s Better With Friends stamp set and colored it with my Shin Han alcohol markers.  I used one of the purse cut outs and some bling to spell out the recipient’s age.

I used the Shin Han colorless blender to make polka dots on her dress.

Now on to the next card…it was for a young lady that was a foreign exchange student and spent a year in Europe.  I thought a luggage card with a personalized luggage tag would fit the bill.

I used Graphic 45 Topography paper line and chipboard pieces.  I thought that this pattern gave it a “designer” feel.

I stamped the passport stamp from the CTMH World Traveler stamp set using the second generation (or stamping-off) method, so that it was a more subtle background.

I hope you have enjoyed our cards today!  Please Like us on Facebook and follow our blog so you don’t miss a thing!

Happy Harvest to you! I don’t need to remind anyone that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but there is still plenty of time to put together some cards for those special people in your life that you are grateful for.

I have been busy making many different designs because I have a very sweet collection of autumn stamps and stamp sets that include saying of gratitude.

The tree card was stamped with Close To My Heart – Always Grateful, as well as the inside of that card.  The sign on the wood grain embossed card was also stamped with a sentiment in this set.

I colored the tree and grass with a small sponge dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I used Scattered Straw, Wild Honey & Peeled Paint.  I mounted the picture onto golden-yellow card stock.  I wrapped a K&Co. gold ribbon around a piece of patterned paper cut 1/8 inch smaller than the card base and assembled as shown above.  I stamped the inside with Cocoa Brown Memento ink using a sentiment from the stamp set.

This card was made using the Teresa Collins eBosser and Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder.  I cut out leaves from various patterned paper using the Close To My Heart Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  This same leaf and acorn are in the CTMH stamp set Fall Harvest and I stamped the acorn and then colored it with my ShinHan alcohol markers.  I used that stamp set with the leaf and acorn cut outs for the next card seen below.

Using my Cricut I cut out the leaves at 2 inches and stamped them with CTMH pigment inks (Topiary, Sunset & Cranberry).  I just love how vibrant the colors are.  I stamped the wreath and “Life is Good” with the CTMH Remarkable Wreath (retired) stamp set.  The wreath was stamped in 3 layers.  First I used Sunset pigment ink with the leaf half circle and of course stamped it twice to make a circle.  Then I used the Cocoa Brown Memento ink to stamp the wreath over the leaves.  Last, I stamped the berries in Cranberry pigment ink as the top layer.  The inside was stamped with the Curlicues Alpha set that came with the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut bundle.

I hope you enjoyed todays cards and techniques.  Thank you for stopping by and remember to click on the left panel to follow our blog so you don’t miss a thing.  Like us on Facebook and stop by our online shop for more inspiration!

Artfully Sent, Close To My Heart, CTMH, How to make Rosettes, Martha Stewart, Martha Stewart Score Board

Good Evening (said in my best Alfred Hitchcock voice)…

Halloween is upon us and I have scared up some special project treats for you.  I made a fun door banner that was so incredibly fast and easy it was scary!  Ok sorry…I will stop….maybe.

Large Rosette BOO Banner

I made 3 large rosettes and connected them together with Black tulle, topped it with an orange tulle bow, added a spider to the bow, a pumpkin head to the bottom and the letters B.O.O. to the centers.

You will need 3 sheets of good quality (thicker) 12×12 card stock that has a Halloween design on them.  Cut each one in thirds so you have 3 pieces of each pattern of paper cut at 4″x12″.  Now you will score each piece every 1/2 inch.  I used the Martha Stewart Score Board.  Now accordion fold the pieces as shown.

Accordion fold strips of scored paper.

Now glue three pieces (of same design) together.  See photos below.

Glue three strips to make one long consecutive accordion folded strip.

Do this with each set of rosettes.  Now on to the trickiest part of creating the rosette.  Glue the strip together at the ends to form a “lampshade” then you will push down in the center, gathering in the middle tight and the outer end will fan out.  Glue it to a small base (I used hot glue).  I punched 1 inch circles and adhered them first to the back and then to the front of the rosette, finally adding a letter to each one to spell out BOO.

Connect the ends to form a lampshade shape.

Press down center and adhere to a small circle base on both the back and front.

The last step is to attach the rosettes to the tulle, tying a bow on top and adding a few frightening elements and voila!  A spooky banner in less than an hour.

Howdy Hop-a-Long!  Today we are participating in a mini blog hop.  I partnered up with a fellow Close To My Heart Consultant to show you a couple of ideas using the Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge Artfully Sent.  This cartridge is jam-packed full of fabulously easy cards you can make in a flash!  There are 700 images on this cartridge, including pop-up cards, fold-out cards, icons, sentiments, pocket cards, sleeves, scenes, envelopes and an adorable font.  The options are nearly endless.  My card was a combination of two different pop-up cards.

I also used this cartridge to decorate the inside of some Halloween cards I made.  Here is the inside of those cards.
