Hi Sistas and Gentlemen!  This month is all about the ladies at Sunsational Stamps.  I used the Lotus Flower digi stamp on today’s project.  I colored this beauty with alcohol markers and fussy cut it out.  I added it to an alcohol ink colored Yupo panel, as I was trying to replicate a Monet-esk background.  I had so much fun making the panel.  I dropped blue and purple alcohol inks onto the paper and added Pearl Metallic Mixative as well as blending solution.  I just kept adding a little of each until I liked the outcome.  Word of warning if you decide to do this…. do this in a WELL VENTILATED ROOM.  I didn’t take the warning seriously and got super light-headed, so I will definitely heed this advice on my next round.

Please pop on over to April Challenge which is Mother’s Day themed and to get your free digi stamp by following the link Here.  We cannot wait to see your inspiration!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card, thank you for stopping by, please follow our blog by clicking on the “Follow Me” button and Like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram so you don’t miss a thing!

Good Evening….channeling Alfred Hitchcock.

I started making Halloween cards already, as I have many I have to make for some of my best customers!  As soon as I saw the stamp set Batty for You I knew what I wanted to do with it.  I just love this adorable little bat (I named him Boris).

I ran some brown card stock through my eBosser using the Teresa Collins Woodgrain embossing folder, then cut out freehand, a partial tree.  I punched out a circle using my 1-1/2 inch punch to use as a mask for the moon.  I then distressed around the mask using Scattered Straw, Ripe Persimmons, Iced Spruce and then rocking a lightly inked sponge for the haze/clouds using Black Soot.

‘Boris’ was colored using alcohol markers and topped off with both Wink of Stella and American Crafts Glitter Pens in dark grey and purple.  The sentiment was colored in using a Distress pen in Twisted Citron then pop up using foam dots.

I hope you liked today’s card.  You can go to http://www.sunsationalstamps.com to purchase this stamp/image along with many more.  Follow our blogs and like us on Facebook!

Alcohol Ink, Digital Images, Sunsational Stamps

Good Morning Class, it is back to school time!  As summer winds down and the kids are all getting bored and antsy, we have to start thinking about getting all those supplies and books for school.

I am very excited to announce that I am one of the new Design Team Members for Sunsational Stamps (http://www.sunsationalstamps.com) and http://scrappingwithlisadesigns.com which features digital images that are so fun to color and customize for your own projects.  I will be creating a project each Tuesday and hopefully inspiring some of you along the way.

Today we are focusing on making a little teacher appreciation gift.  I am making mine for my daughter, since she is now a preschool & Kindergarten teacher.  I used the ‘Apple of My Eye’ image and the ‘Hoo Loves School?’ image.  I thought they were just adorable!  I used a mason jar adorned with a chalkboard paper label and a straw.  I filled the jar with Jolly Rancher candy.  I colored the ‘Hoo Loves School’ image with alcohol markers and added it as a straw topper.  This could easily double as a pencil topper as well.  🙂  I made a tag using the primary colors and added the ‘Apple of My Eye’ image, which was also colored with alcohol markers .

Howdy fellow crafters, today I created a card for a dear friend of mine that moved into a new home.  I am so excited for her 🙂

I used a Studio Calico stamp set and added a CTMH sun image from a set that retired a year or two ago.  I used Doodlebug papers from my stash, as well as American Crafts Thickers that I colored with an alcohol marker to match the CTMH Lagoon shimmer tape.  The building scene is colored using Distress Markers.  The sky was lightly sponged with Tumbled Glass distress ink.

Happy Birthday Paper Canvas Creations Blog!

PCC blog is celebrating its first year in cyberspace this month.  In it’s honor I have been busy making all sorts of cards for A LOT of birthdays this summer.

First up is a birthday card for a gal who’s favorite pastime is shopping! I used the Artfully Sent cartridge to cut out the purse panel card and backed each row with a different patterned paper, repeating the bottom and top rows.  I personalized the card by adding the recipient’s name to the last purse.  I used Doodlebug rub-on letters.

I used the CTMH It’s Better With Friends stamp set and colored it with my Shin Han alcohol markers.  I used one of the purse cut outs and some bling to spell out the recipient’s age.

I used the Shin Han colorless blender to make polka dots on her dress.

Now on to the next card…it was for a young lady that was a foreign exchange student and spent a year in Europe.  I thought a luggage card with a personalized luggage tag would fit the bill.

I used Graphic 45 Topography paper line and chipboard pieces.  I thought that this pattern gave it a “designer” feel.

I stamped the passport stamp from the CTMH World Traveler stamp set using the second generation (or stamping-off) method, so that it was a more subtle background.

Greetings followers, today we are featuring some Easter cards. I made a couple of different styles this week with various techniques used.

The first set of cards were made using the Peel Stickers by Elizabeth Crafts Designs, glitter paper and ShinHan alcohol markers.  I just LOVE how these Faberge Eggs look like they have gem stones imbedded in them!  I purchased these many months ago and I could not wait for Easter so I could color these.

I embossed the background pieces with the large polka dot embossing folder and tied American Crafts Baker’s twine around the base.

The second set of cards are mini cards (finished size 2-1/2 x 3.  I custom-made the envelopes with my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Maker.  A perfect way to use up some of my 6×6 paper….of which I have pads and stacks and egg-cetra…hehe….

I used Newton’s Nook Hoppy Easter stamp set and my Distress Markers.  I also was able to use my new Simon Says Stitched Borders Square thin dies to make the peek-a-boo window.

I hope everyone has a Hoppy weekend and no matter what holiday you celebrate, I hope you have a good one!

Oodles of Hellos to you!  I have been busy making cards…yes again, or should I say STILL.  🙂  I am looking forward to finishing up with all my recent card orders so I can concentrate on scrapbooking.  I haven’t been able to make page layouts in quite a while and I am missing it.

But I digress…  Today I have a couple of Thank You cards that I made using the CTMH Choose Happy Stamp of the Month set for March, and one of the cards is being entered into a stencil challenge.  I circle punched an index card with three size  circles and then laid a Tim Holtz circle stencil over the holes and randomly stenciled the tiny holes into the large punched holes to get this effect:

Stencil within a Stencil Technique

This was a lot of fun to do.  I then laid the punched out circles over the stenciled areas so I could add TH Distress Ink in Peeled Paint in the background.  The distress colors I used for the stenciled areas were; Evergreen Bough, Scattered Straw and Tumbled Glass.  The Thanks Oodles frame was colored with the ShinHan alcohol markers in the following colors; Peacock, Turquoise and Leaf Green.  These colors are so pretty together, and I just LOVE the frames in this stamp set, it is so whimsical.  The stamp set is only available through the end of March.

Alcohol Ink, Art Philosophy, Close To My Heart, Cricut, CTMH, Elizabeth Craft Designs, ShinHan, Sweet Tooth Boxes

Cheerio!  Today’s post is centered around a birthday gift of relaxation.  My Bestie from ‘way back when’ had a birthday recently and she happens to be a tea fanatic.  She also is a bit frazzled with work.  So her gift was a no-brainer!  Tea, a relaxing candle & card.  🙂

The Tea House was so fun to make.  I used Cricut Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge, which cuts all sorts of fun boxes to hold treats and surprises.  I cut the small sweet shop box and filled it with a variety of tea bags.

3M Adhesives, Alcohol Ink, Close To My Heart, CTMH, Glossy Accents, Liquid Glass, Memento Inks, Modge Podge, Raisin Boat Stamps, ShinHan, StazOn Ink, Teresa Collins, Wink of Stella

….and Glittery Ornaments!  Holiday greetings all my crafty followers.  This week I have been so busy making ornaments for the annual ornament exchange I am in with a group of my long time friends.

Handmade Glass Ornaments

Handmade Glass Ornaments

List of Materials

  • Glass Ornaments
  • Tissue Paper
  • Stamps (I used Close To My Heart, Teresa Collins and Raisin Boat stamps)
  • Memento or StazOn Ink
  • Modge Podge
  • Sponge Brush
  • Alcohol Markers (I used ShinHan)
  • Wink of Stella (Clear)
  • Liquid Glass or Glossy Accents
  • Spray Adhesive (I prefer 3M)
  • Glitter (I used two different types)

The first step after you gather all of the above items is to stamp the image you wish to feature onto the dull side of white tissue paper using a permanent ink.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black.  Cut the image either by fussy cutting or leaving a bit of a margin, I chose to leave a margin.  I also layered mine with a verse stamp behind the image, I stamped “Twas The Night Before Christmas” on a separate piece of tissue paper and applied a portion of the story as the first layer.

The second step is to apply a thin layer of Modge Podge to the back side of the stamped image and apply it to the ornament.  Once this has dried (5 to 10 min.) apply a second coat to the top to seal.  Try not to go off the tissue paper by too much.

Apply Modge Podge to the back of the stamped tissue paper.

Apply Modge Podge to the back of the stamped tissue paper.

Adhere to the ornament, smoothing out all the bubbles and wrinkles.

Let this coat dry completely, you can either heat dry it or just let it be for a half hour.  Next you will color your image with the alcohol markers.  Let the ink dry completely then add Wink of Stella to highlight areas that need a little shimmer and shine.

After a top layer of Modge Podge has dried color in the image with alcohol markers.

Once the markers dry you can apply some clear Wink of Stella for some extra shimmer.

Once the markers dry you can apply some clear Wink of Stella for some extra shimmer.

This next step is a little tricky and can prove to be quiet messy.  Take the top off the ornament.  I suggest you make a tiny paper funnel to fit into the glass ornament, now pour a small amount of fine glitter into the ornament.  Here’s the tricky part….spray adhesive into the ornament using small sprays.  Try to spray upwards inside the ornament, then flip and do the other side.  If you spray directly into where the glitter is sitting you will make the glitter clump and some of it actually sprays back at you….messy!  You may ask, “Why not add glitter after I spray the adhesive?”  Well, you can try it but it tends to get caught up neck of the ornament.  Let it dry completely before putting the top back on the ornament.

Apply a thin stripe of the Liquid Glass/Glossy Accents around the perimeter of the cut out stamped image(s) and spread it thin with your finger.  This seals the edge of the tissue.  While the Liquid Glass is still wet, sprinkle with glitter.  I used a larger glitter by WOW for the outside of the ornament.  Once this has completely dried you can brush with a very soft paint brush to remove any loose glitter.

At this point you can embellish with sequins, cut-outs, mini bells or whatever tickles your fancy.  Top off with a pretty ribbon to hang it up with and call it done.
